G5 Striker Broadhead Review

g5 striker broadhead review

The Striker broadheads are a simple fixed blade option from G5 Outdoors. The cut-on-contact chisel tip and three steel blades are lethal. The ferrule and tip are durable. It is the perfect size for medium to large game and highly accurate. There may not be anything particularly fancy about the design of the Striker, but it gets the job done with minimal buzzword marketing and, ultimately, provides a satisfactory shooting experience.

G5 Striker Broadhead Construction

The G5 Striker broadheads are made entirely from metal injection molding stainless steel, from the ferrule to the tip. The German sharpened Lutz blades are only .030” thick and are plenty sharp to rend through hide and flesh of large game. However, they can be a touch on the weak side and may become dull quickly. The blades can be swapped out with separately purchased replacement blades, although they can be tough to work with and on the pricier side. The blades are held in place on the ferrule by G5’s ANIX blade-locking system. Ideally, this should and does keep the blades fixed and prevents them from coming loose during flight and impact. However, the G5 Striker broadheads tend to fall apart whenever they are not fixed to an arrow. This can be tedious for archers to manage.

With a cutting diameter of 1 ⅛” the Striker is great for bigger game with large bone structures, such as elk, mule deer, antelope, and moose. They are also perfect for whitetail deer and hogs. The cutting diameter may seem small, but it punches through tough hide and tears flesh thanks to the cut-on-contact chisel like design of the tip and the sharp three blades. These will go through a shoulder blade and leave a great blood trail to track.

G5 Striker Accuracy

Given that the G5 Striker broadheads are 100% spin tested at the factory, you can bet on reliable accuracy from these. Even at 40 yards they manage to get within ½” of their field point equivalents. They fly true and very nearly like field tips. Some claim that these are the only fixed blade broadheads they have used that did not require special sighting or tuning to achieve accurate shots. For hunters shooting a lower poundage bow these are a great choice. They will easily bring down game with only 45lbs of draw weight behind them. Archers who have suffered injury or naturally need a lighter draw weight will find these a delight to use.

G5 Striker Review Conclusion

The combination of reliable accuracy and fixed blade stainless steel design make these a desirable option for any hunter seeking medium and large class game. They are capable of blowing through bone, despite their small cutting diameter, and the foundation of a durable ferrule makes them reusable with replaceable blades. The blades themselves are not very tough, but they will undoubtedly bring down the prey.
