Trophy Ridge React 5 Pin Bow Sight Review

The Trophy Ridge React 5 Pin bow sight is a snap to sight in and within minutes you could be shooting tight groups with it. The beauty and biggest selling point of this sight is just how easy they make it to get sighted. Everything just falls right into place after you have setup two of the five pins. It is also gorgeously designed with all of the bells and whistles one would expect from a high quality and high performance piece of equipment. The accuracy is right on the money, despite the minimal effort required to get it sighted in.

Trophy Ridge React 5 Pin Details

As stated, only two of the five pins are adjustable. Compared to other options this may seem like a con. However, this is what makes the React unique and highly desirable. When setting it up it is recommend to sight in the 20 yard pin and then the 40 yard pin. After that, you are automatically sighted at 30 yards, 50 yards, and 60 yards with no additional effort. The accuracy ends up being spot on and it is impressively simple and slick to switch between yards. It is one of a kind in this regard. The React will definitely improve groups and increase confidence, as it makes that much of a difference. If you find sighting in every season to be a pain then you may be pleasantly surprised by what the React has to offer.

Design of the 5 Pins

The pins are 0.19 diameter fiber optics and the tips are two different colors. Four of the pins are yellow and the center pin is red. This gives only a small distinction between the pins, whereas it would be more beneficial to have had multiple different colors for each of the different tips. It is generally easier to quickly identify a color and associate it with the yardage, rather than having to count the pins and check their position to be sure. That being said, the picture manages to be crisp and clear, despite having five pins to work with. They are also very bright and easy to see thanks to strong fiber optics.

React 5 Pin Construction

The Trophy Ridge React 5 pin bow sight is made of a ballistix copolymer system that is 24% lighter than aluminum. Trophy Ridge claims this copolymer is just as strong as aluminum. However, there are some reports of the frame becoming cracked and needing to be replaced. Fortunately, the Trophy Ridge customer service is stellar and they will send replacement parts or, in cases of repeat failures, will replace and upgrade the sight entirely. Aside from this rare issue, the React is durable and holds together well during adjustments. In fact, despite being made from the lighter material, it is a rather heavy sight weighing 11 ounces. This may be a deterrent if you are trying to keep your build lightweight and efficient.

React 5 Pin in Low Light Conditions

Built into the React is a rheostat light that is described as very bright and great for low light and dark conditions. It also comes with a sight level at the bottom interior of the housing. The mounting holes are versatile and allow for five different mounting configurations. A quiver can also be attached.

Bow Requirements for the React 5 Pin Sight

Something to consider when purchasing this sight, which is not clearly explained by Trophy Ridge, is the 250 FPS minimum requirement. If your bow is slower than 250 FPS you will need to get it chronoed and tuned by a professional. Otherwise, your yards will be way off and the pins will not properly fall into place after sighting 20 yards and 40 yards. On that note, another gripe to be aware of is Trophy Ridge’s lack of instructions. It is not unusual to receive no instruction with this product.

React 5 Pin Sight Review Conclusion

Overall, with an adequately fast or chronoed compound bow the Trophy Ridge React 5 pin bow sight is incredibly accurate and a delight to use. Within minutes you will be up and running and shooting tight groups. Whether it is as 20 yards or 60 yards or somewhere in between, once you are sighted with two pins you are set with all five. Trophy Ridge’s fantastic customer service will help take care of any questions and defects, and makes up for the lack of included instruction.
